Unlike most dive sites in Malaysia, Sipadan and its surrounding islands are one of very few islands in Malaysia not affected by the monsoon storms and the islands of the Celebes Sea and Sulu Sea are open to visitors all year round. Unlike many dive sites in peninsular Malaysia that are closing now due to the seasonal storm and monsoon wind, Sipadan is not affected and the dives today were magnificent.
The month of September to December is a beautiful season for diving and snorkeling in the Celebes Sea and it is the start of our peak season here in Sipadan with a majority of visitors coming from China, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Japan and the U.S.A. The weather this month (much like last year) is expected to be wonderful with a ground temperature of 32 degrees Celsius and an underwater temperature of 28 to 30 degrees Celsius. The weather in September is usually sunny and breezy with occasional rain on some cloudy days.
